A Mother's Work...
Journal Entry: Sun May 11, 2008, 5:00 AM
To all the Mothers out there, Happy Mothers Day!
Today is a significant day for us to honor that woman who gave us life, nursed us, protected us from others as well as from ourselves...
"Put that stick down before you poke your eye out!" or "Get down from there before you break your neck!" or "Don't run with those scissors or you'll stab yourself!" as well as a host of other important warnings. If it wasn't for Mothers, we might all be a bunch of one eyed, self-impaled, quadriplegics... But seriously, where would we be without a Mother's love?
Today, I'm kind of lost and empty, my Mom passed away in February. When she died, part of me died as well. My Mom was one of the greatest influence in my life, both as a person and as an artist. Her dedication to me and her encouragement pushed me along life's road, her care and her concern, her guiding hand from childhood to adulthood made the difference in my life and while I made mistakes and faltered, her love was unconditional and her advice on every matter under the sun was always right and true. I miss her smile, I miss her laughter, but most of all I miss her love. I always tried to do things to make her proud, to honor her for all she did for me. On Mother's Day I always made her a handmade card to go with something I purchased for her. To her, something handmade and from the heart was more important than anything you could buy in a store, it became her most valuable possession that she would display proudly and show to everyone.
I miss you Mom.
Love,
Don

Devious Comments
I had a great relationship with both but there is something special about a mother, and the loss makes the recovery time longer.
But as long as they are in your heart, they never left...but with you for eternity.
And she clearly lives on in your memories which is the best way of honoring someone loved very dear.

St. Francis said,
“A man who uses his hands is a laborer. One who uses his hands and mind is a craftsman. He who uses his hands, and his mind, and his heart is an artist.”
