The name Zeiss Ikon is legendary in photography. Carl Zeiss of Germany is among the most renowned lens manufacturers in the world. Zeiss lens are found on the finest cameras.

The Carl Zeiss Foundation owned the Zeiss Ikon from its inception in 1926 until it 1972.

The 35mm SLR Zeiss Ikon Contaflex Super was introduced in 1959, it was base one the successful Zeiss Ikon Rapid, is easily recognized by the selenium exposure meter on the front side of the prism and the aperture setting wheel on the front plate.

Expect to be astonished!

Makes me wish I had one. My Pentax is bound up internally, and I can't fix it. And those screw-mount lenses aren't the most resilient either...

This is a strange camera to me, but amazing at the same time. It has bayonet mount as well. I've always used Japanese 35mm SLR and I like their feel, the seem more rugged, the Zeiss Ikon on the other hand seems delicate to me. I would feel nervous carrying it around.
Too bad about your Spotmatic, there are a couple shops here in Pittsburgh that might be able to fix it. I've been looking for a black Spotmatic.

Yeah, it's somewhere in the shutter release/cocking mechanism, and if I knew what parts were what, I'd take it apart and fix it myself, but I'm not sure I wanna be that ambitious just yet...

I remember being on a Pentax repair site. I think the site was in Japan, but the text was in English, I'll see if I can find it for you.

Oh heck yeah. Should take some amazing pictures. I used to have an old leica that took the best shots. I saw an old Ikon for sale in pawn shop in vegas a few years ago for around 200. I should have bought it. :peace:
