Description

The Fort Duquesne Brewery operated on the Southside of Pittsburgh from 1899–1972.

Among Duquesne Brewery's stable of brands was Silver Top Lager, Silver Top Ale, Duke Ale, Duquesne Pilsener, Duquesne Bavarian Beer, Duquesne Bock Beer, Duquesne Heavy-Dry Beer, Duquesne Draft Beer, Duquesne Porter, Old Nut Brown Ale, Frontenac Pale Ale, Duquesne Beer, Carnegie beer and Duquesne Buccaneer Beer.

Duquesne Brewery was noted for having largest single face clock in the world. The 60'x 60' advertising clock face has a 35' minute hand and a 25' hour hand made of laminated aluminum. The clock, built in 1933 is nearly twice the size of London's Big Ben clock. The clock was originally located on Mt. Washington overlooking Pittsburgh and advertised a variety of soft drinks as well as other beers before being relocated to the top of the Duquesne Brewery. The clock is still in operation and currently advertises AT&T.

The brewery is also noted for a huge Ghost Ad that faces the Southside slopes: [link]

Make it a DUKE! Even sounds like a man's beer!

Now that sounds like a good manly man's beer for manly men who are very manly.

Anyway, I really link the colors in this one, a very simple, and classic red and black combo. I also love how classy the man is in the picture, considering beer is not really seen as "classy" nowadays. All in all, stuff indeed
