Snowflake

This Celtic Cross design started out as a hand drawn piece using a compass and Rapid-O-Graph pens. I scanned the pen & ink drawing and saved it as a tiff file then opened it in Illustrator CS2 from there, I used the auto trace. I had to do a lot of cleaning up on the auto trace paths, mostly around the corners, but generally it did a pretty decent tracing of my design. I then took the design, filled it with white then copy & pasted it into Photoshop where I used layer effects bevel and emboss as well as drop shadow to get this look.

This is a traditional art, vector art, pixel art all in one piece. A few other things I want to mention is that I've done hundreds of these cross designs, many of them I have cut out in heavy weight bristol board some as large as 30"x30" and used that as a pattern to hand emboss the design onto Arches and Strathmore watercolor papers. I've cut these designs in rubber and had them sandblasted into stone too, by Carlini Monuments. I have also cut out these design in various papers and mounted to different papers too.
