Show Me II Nose Art by yankeedog Show Me II Nose Art by yankeedog
Last September I was a guest of the 509th Bomb Wing at the reactivation ceremony for the 13th Bomb Squadron at Whiteman AFB. While there, we were allowed to photograph the B2. This is a retouched photo of the main gear door on the Spirit of Missouri. Having a little fun, I added some Nose Art. I did design the actual graphics that are on the aircraft, but they aren't as exciting.

The red material around the edges is to protect the ground crew from getting cut on the razor sharp edges. The crew chief informed us that tatanium cuts take forever to heal.

The Nose Art was done in Adobe Illustrator CS2, retouched in PSCS2 on an Apple G5.

As a native Missourian, I'd be proud to have this B-2 display your incredible art! I was one of the lucky ones to see the 1st public showing of this beauty out at Edwards AFB back in '93. She's sure something else!!

Thanks! The B-2 is an amazing aircraft. The folks who maintain them and the folks who fly them are pretty amazing too! We just got back for KC and Whiteman AFB where we were guests of the 13th Bomb Squadron Association at their reunion. We attended a luncheon with most of the 13th's pilots and got a tour of the base. Lt Col Bill Eldridge, CO of the 13th Bomb Squadron was the guest Speaker at the 13th Bomb Squadron Association's banquet. We had a great time! KC is a beautiful city!

Cool! One of my greatest regrets was not being able to get out of work for a day to attend a classified talk from Gen. Paul Tibbets, commander of the "Enola Gay," about 10 years ago when he was visiting the national atomic museum at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque. That would've been a hell of a tale!

I met Gen Tibbets at an air show in Reading PA many years ago, he's a great guy! I'm friends with his grandson who is a B-2 pilot and CO of the 393d Bomb Squadron at Whiteman AFB. He was also a Grim Reaper with the 13th Bomb Squadron.
