Mack B-61 by yankeedog Mack B-61 by yankeedog
My son and I went out shooting photos on Father's Day and along the way got a shot of this old B-61 Mack sitting between two building along Island Avenue in McKees Rocks, PA. It's a shame some low life smashed the windshield and broke the hood ornament, but even they didn't give up without a fight, I hope the rocks bounced back and hit the fool in the head.

A friend of mine who owned a couple B-61s told me that they were such great trucks and lasted so long that they nearly bankrupted Mack Truck. I guess if you build them good and they last forever, why buy a new one?

I know it's a cliche but they really don't make 'em like this anymore.Nice shot Don.

Thanks Martin! No, they don't, when they say 'Built like a Mack Truck' it really means something.

Doesn't look too bad! Tires seem to still hold air, head lights and marker lights seem to be intact, and no major damage is apparent. It still even has it's roof mounted horn! Wouldn't mind it gracing my driveway, sure would drive my neighbor with the F250 and Excursion crazy!

It's definitely in restorable condition. I'm sure the upkeep to keep it road worthy would be expensive, but it would be cool to have just to tank around town and to take to car shows. All the stickers say 2000 and the plate is 2000, so it's likely been sitting close to 10 years.

Yea, because your truck would be cooler than both of his combined.
