This is a project I've been working on for a while. The Long Island Railroad in New York was owned by the Pennsylvania Railroad and back when steam ruled that rails, it was common to see just about every type of Pennsy locomotive on the Long Island, but mostly it was G5 4-6-0, 10 wheelers also know as the "Pittsburgh Commuter" and Pennsylvania Railroad H10s Consolidation types. This PRR 2-8-0 locomotive, No. 105 was built in 1913 in Pittsburgh. The snow plow was added by the Long Island Rail Road to clear the way to Manhattan.

Adobe Illustrator CS, Apple G4 Power Mac, OSX Tiger.

Never seen a steamer with a plow like that before. I love it!

Thanks! I'm sure other railroads did it, but this was something that the Long Island did with several consolidation locomotives.

That is Awesome! That would be a impressive site to see in person.
Maybe we should add these plows to modern trains, then maybe people would stop.

Thanks! They are pretty impressive. NS was operating a plow, a friend of mine got a great shot of it as it approached Summit, PA.
