Description

The Connie K has gone through numerous name changes since she was first built by Dravo's Neville Island shipyard, in Pittsburgh in 1951, originally named the James D. Francis, she was renamed the Keystone in 1960, renamed the Robin B in 1973 and repowered 1974, she was renamed the Connie Mays in 1984 and then renamed Connie K 2008, she is owned by Campbell Transportation.

Her powerful twin screws are evident as she churns it up headed east out to the Steel Valley on the Monongahela River at Pittsburgh. Shot from the historic Smithfield Street Bridge.

Such push tows are always interesting, I remember seeing them both on the Danube an the Rhine... Though it always seemed dead slow when compared to running on land when they were working their way upstream. Working in the closest sense of the word :)
